A Spark To Inspire was created to shine a light on the mental health needs of pediatric patients by bringing them joy, opportunity, resources, and role models that help them explore their passions. Our goal is to become a small part of as many children’s journeys as possible throughout New York City and brighten their long days in the hospital.

As a child, A Spark To Inspire co-founder Sammy spent many months in the hospital after being diagnosed twice with ALL, a type of leukemia. She was fortunate to have a family that kept her spirits up with cards from classmates, magic shows, lip-sync battles, and an endless supply of arts and crafts. After completing treatment, Sammy wanted to create a platform that would give other hospitalized children access to the same kinds of meaningful entertainment.

Together with her lifelong friend Ari, Sammy founded what became A Spark To Inspire. They consulted healthcare professionals to create care packages filled with art supplies, books, birthday setups, and baby essentials for pediatric patients.

As the organization grew, Noah and Kai joined the team as CFO and COO, inspired by the impact Sammy and Ari were creating. Together, the team transformed an idea into an operating nonprofit. Today, A Spark To Inspire shines a light on pediatric patients’ mental health as they face challenges that most people will never experience.
